Our values

  • Illustration: figures dancing together

    Community over the individual

In a world that increasingly revolves around self-promotion, Oase focuses on what holds you together.

  • Illustration: a quiet break in a hammock

    Safety over convenience

We will always put safety first, even when it's less convenient. For example, you enter your name in every oase you join. That way, you stay in control of who knows what about you.

    Transparency over profit

We build Oase with one ambition: to strengthen communities — not exploit them. Our business model will never be about keeping you glued to a screen or selling your data. Larger communities like schools and associations pay for extra features and support via Plenum. For individuals, Oase is always free.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is an oase?

An oase is a closed digital space for a community you're already part of in real life — your family, your class, your sports club. You bring posts, messages, events, and polls together in one place, and no one outside can find or contact you.

  • Is Oase free?

Yes, for individuals Oase is always free. Associations and organisations that need sub-oases, roles, and structure across several teams or committees can add Oase Plenum.

  • How do you make money if you don't sell data?

We offer Oase Plenum as a paid solution for larger organisations that want a safe, private digital space for their community. As an individual, you never pay with your data.

  • Can my child use Oase safely?

Yes. Children under 13 can only create a profile with consent from a parent or legal guardian, and you can only find and contact people you already share a physical community with — no friend requests from strangers.

  • How is Oase different from a Facebook group or WhatsApp?

Oase is a Danish platform, while Meta, the company behind Facebook and WhatsApp, is American. The underlying business model is different too.

Meta makes money by selling user data to advertisers — the more time and attention users give Meta, the more money the company makes. That's created a long list of unhealthy features and dynamics on Meta's platforms.

Oase won't make money from your data. Instead, we offer Oase Plenum to larger communities and organisations that want to give their members a safe, secure digital home.
